  1. Introduction

  3.    Welcome to Conquest!  This is a strategy game similar to RISK,
  4. and other 'Conquer the World' type games.  It has many options to
  5. make the game more interesting, but you may want to wait until after
  6. you have played a few games before you try them.  One of my design
  7. objectives was to create a simple user interface which removes
  8. unnecessary keystrokes, and leaves as much room on the screen as
  9. possible for the game map.  As a result, EGA and a mouse or trackball
  10. are required to play Conquest.  For information on how to play the
  11. game, either run the game and use the built in help screens, or read
  12. the file 'Guide.doc.'  Write me a note if I can be of help.

  14. Features of Conquest Version 1.8:

  16. 1.  This version of Conquest may or may not be played over the modem
  17. (depending on the type of modem you have).  I am continually trying to
  18. improve the modem option, so please let me know of any difficulty you
  19. are having with the modem option.

  21. 2.  A demonstration mode has been added which functions as a screen
  22. saver.  If you do not hit a key or move the mouse within three minutes
  23. at the opening menu, a random map will be selected with random
  24. computer players.  At high speed, the demo mode is interesting to
  25. watch.

  27. 3.  A new option entitled 'Rebellions' has been added.  This option
  28. will let territories revolt after they have been conquered.  For more
  29. information, read the player's guide (GUIDE.DOC) or the 'Options' help
  30. selection under the Help menu.
